Strengthen Our Democracy and Economy
The core idea behind my Modern America Plan is to create a referendum-style national vote to break Congressional gridlock on the budget and everything else. A national referendum is when a government gives its citizens the option to vote yes or no on a proposal. We don’t need a constitutional amendment for this because the Constitution gives Congress the right to make laws, and Congress could make a law calling for a national referendum before the law takes effect. They do things like this in other democracies, and most states do this in their state elections through ballot proposals. Here are the details:

Dear Friend,
My name is Gibran Nicholas, and I’m asking for your help and support as I run for President of the United States as a moderate independent candidate. The main reason I’m running for President is to heal and strengthen our country, and to keep us all safe.
Like you, I’m deeply troubled by what’s happening in our country with all the divisiveness, incivility, misinformation, and hatred. Our government is dysfunctional. Our national debt is unsustainable. Our housing is unaffordable. Our education system is broken. Our healthcare system is the most expensive in the world and yet it still doesn’t work right. Our immigration system is outdated, and millions of Americans can’t even get home insurance because of the climate crisis.
To top it all off, we’re on the verge of yet another forever war in the Middle East, and we are facing the threat of war with Iran, Russia, and China.
The #1 responsibility of a President is to keep us and our children safe, and we cannot be safe if we are divided and fighting amongst each other about things that we don’t even understand.
My aim in running for President is to help us understand each other better and to bring peace, unity, and healing to our country.
Neither Trump nor Biden has been able to unify our country behind a common purpose, and things have gotten worse under both their administrations. Now they're asking for four more years. I don't think we should give it to them.
As an entrepreneur, sales trainer, and continuing education instructor in the housing and financial industry, I'm a normal American like you. Our country was founded by normal people like us who saw a problem and created a solution to fix it. We are the children of the Pilgrims, the children of immigrants, the children of the civil rights leaders of the 1960s, the children of Native Americans who originally inhabited this country, the children of war veterans who lived and fought and died to give us the freedom we all enjoy today.
It is not only our birthright, it is our sacred duty to stand up and make things better for ourselves and our children, and to vote people out of office when their actions endanger us and don't match our values.
We all know it’s time for a new beginning in America. We know it in our hearts, and we know it in our minds. And that is what I’m offering us. It’s time to bring peace to our communities and our college campuses. It’s time to bring healing to our country and modernize our foreign policy so it’s more consistent with our values. It’s time to work together and solve our problems as Americans instead of blaming each other as Republicans and Democrats.
I believe in America, and I believe in you and me. This is our time.
We can absolutely do better than Trump and Biden. Don’t you agree?
